Landek is a term dancing in traditional
languages Karo. According to the Karo people,
movements of landek always symbolize something
or tell a story. Each
representation is usually describes human
characteristics and one's
relationship with other people in their social life.
In
general, traditional dance Karo
(Landek) is divided into 3 types, that is: 1)Religious
Dance, 2) Traditional Dance, and 3) youth
dance. Some of the
Religious Dance: Dance
Teacher, Mulih-mulih,
Tungkat Dance, Dance Peselukken, and dance-tembut Tembut. This
dance is usually done by the
group Guru or
shaman group.
Traditional dance is usually performed by close family group during traditional ceremonies. Families are divided into groups: Children Beru, Kalimbubu, Sembuyak, Sukut. The purpose of this dance is as a traditional tribute. For Young-Mudi dance, ritual and religion are not binding on. In dance activities karo (landek),
there are three main
aspects related to this dance. Third aspect
is referred to as the Karo Dance forming elements, namely the motion: 1)
endek (down-up),
2) Njole (body
sway) and 3)
Lempir Tan (tapering
fingers). In the dance
of Karo, shear legs,
waist motion, and
do not flirt too
much in exploration
because, according to customs Karo, it's not polite. But, lately
the Karo in contemporary culture,
especially after the popularity of a new
Karo song, it also
created some new
dances with certain
regulations, such as dance Surit Piso,
